Heart Lariat Necklace

A heart lariat necklace is an updated version of the original lariat necklace. Lariat necklaces are chains without fastenings. Instead you can do them up in a variety of different ways depending on what you are wearing and what is fashionable at the time.

Since Elsa Peretti designed the Open Heart Lariat, hundreds of copies have flooded the market. There are a few variations on the original design. One necklace is made with sterling silver and is 19.5” long. The chain falls through a large, thin silver heart and there is another heart on the other end of the chain. Silver is preferred by many as it is less dressy than gold and can therefore be worn day or night. At the same time, it is a metal that goes with anything and so silver is easy to wear. The Open Heart Lariat actually does go with anything. Whether you are in jeans and a t-shirt or a little black dress, it will catch everybody’s eye.

If you do not look after your Tiffany necklace, it may become dull and dirty. To keep your open heart lariat looking bright, use a 100% cotton cloth to gently clean it. If you need something to get rid of a particularly difficult stain, do not use toothpaste or baking soda. Instead try a polish that is specifically designed for silver. Be extra careful if your necklace has gemstones. Silver is easily scratched, so keep the necklace dry and away from any other jewellery so it does not become irreversibly damaged.

One lariat necklace is almost exactly the same as the Tiffany one except that the second heart has been turned into a locket for a photo. Made by In The Pink Designs, the necklace is longer than the Tiffany one at 20”. The locket is available as either single or double sided. It is not the only Tiffany-inspired heart necklace on the market. Some are much cheaper but actually very good replicas. If you can’t afford the real thing then at least you can pretend.

These heart necklaces make great gifts for any woman. When a man gives his girlfriend or wife a heart necklace, he is literally giving her his heart and the gesture will always be appreciated. If you have a daughter or niece, these necklaces make great birthday presents and if you get married, they are great bridesmaid gifts. As we are coming up to Valentines Day, a heart lariat might be the ideal gift for the special lady in your life.
